The control and monitoring systems of modern waste treatment facilities are generating huge quantities of process data and utilise a multitude of different controls. The power consumption of individual machines, flow rates of materials, the opening intervals of motor valves, running times of emergency flares, weighing data and the quantity of raw biogas are just a few of the parameters involved. Control and monitoring systems usually display data in chronological order and provide a general overview of the most relevant process data. However, if a more in-depth analysis of a process is required, for example to undertake a detailed troubleshooting exercise, the limits of most systems are easily reached. Against this background IGLux has developed a MS-Excel based tool in order to allow in-depth and detailed evaluation of the control and process data based on backup and exportable data. The particular advantage of the tool is that it utilises not only the data used by the control and monitoring system to display the high level performance of a facility, but also the data usually reserved for internal control purposes. Once the tool has been adapted to a particular type of waste facility it can be quickly and easily applied to similar facilities.
